Sabia is a 1-month-old baby girl whose parents hope to see her grow up healthy with her elder sisters, Taslima and Fatema. She lives in a five-member family, where her father, Md. Omar Faruk, is the sole earning member and works as a construction laborer, earning only around USD 65 per month, while the family has already used their limited savings for her neonatal care. Sabia has been diagnosed with Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) in both eyes and requires urgent treatment to protect her vision. Without timely care, the condition may progress to retinal scarring, retinal detachment, and permanent blindness. The family learned about Helpster Charity through Nasima Akhter and volunteer Md. Al Amin and is seeking support for her treatment.

According to the treating physician, ROP Stage 2 in Zone II with plus disease requires prompt Anti-VEGF treatment. Avastin injection in both eyes within 7 days is expected to control the abnormal retinal blood-vessel growth and help prevent further progression of ROP, preserving the child’s vision. With timely treatment and regular retinal follow-up, the child has a better chance of maintaining functional eyesight. If treatment is delayed, ROP may progress to retinal scarring and detachment, resulting in severe or irreversible visual impairment and permanent blindness.
