Rumaisha Akter is a fragile 4-day-old newborn whose arrival brought great joy to her family despite their extreme poverty. Her father, Masum Islam, works as a day laborer and is the only earning member of a six-member family, making it impossible to afford the costly treatment and hospital care needed for the newborn baby. When Rumaisha’s skin and eyes started turning yellow and she became weak, sleepy, and unable to feed properly, her terrified family rushed her for medical care after learning about Helpster Charity through volunteer Sadika Rahman. Doctors later diagnosed her with neonatal hyperbilirubinemia, a dangerous condition caused by high bilirubin levels in the blood. Without urgent treatment and close medical monitoring, her condition may worsen rapidly and lead to severe brain damage, permanent complications, and life-threatening consequences.

Rumaisha Akter is a 4-day-old newborn who developed neonatal jaundice due to high serum bilirubin levels. As his condition became concerning, he was admitted to City Clinic on 22 May for urgent treatment. With proper medical care and close monitoring, his condition gradually improved. After receiving necessary treatment, Rumaisha was discharged on 26 May in stable condition. Now back home, Rumaisha is doing well. His grateful parents said, “We sincerely thank Helpster donors and City Clinic for their kind support and care.”

Doctors have advised immediate treatment with light therapy, along with close monitoring, proper feeding, and supportive care to help reduce the yellowing and strengthen the baby. With timely treatment, Rumaisha is expected to recover fully, feed well, and continue normal growth and development like any healthy child. Early care will prevent the yellow substance in the blood from reaching dangerous levels and causing harm. However, if left untreated, the condition can worsen and may lead to permanent brain damage, hearing problems, or even be life-threatening. Prompt treatment is crucial to give Belayet a safe and healthy start in life.
