Aisha is a pupil of primary school, she is staying with her parents and siblings. She wishes to be a successful business woman when she grows. The father is not currently working and the Mother is a petty trader. They stay in a small apartment with 2 rooms and a pit toilet. They have access to electricity. They use well water, monthly income is 10000. Aisha presented with history of high-grade fever associated with chills and occasional convulsion of a short duration. Fever is more in the evenings. Four days ago, she was noticed to have facial swelling that is more in the morning. There is associated loss of appetite, occasional abdominal pain but no constipation or vomiting. She was diagnosed with Severe Malaria with Acute glomerulonephritis.

Aisha is a 7 years old female presenting with history of high-grade fever associated with chills and occasional convulsion of a short duration. Fever is more in the evenings. Four days ago, she was noticed to have facial swelling that is more in the morning. There is associated loss of appetite, occasional abdominal pain but no constipation or vomiting. Patient was diagnosed with Severe Malaria with Acute glomerulonephritis. Antimalarial injection, antibiotics and other supportive care was given until patient was stable. Fever stopped, no more facial swelling and feeding continued well. Complaint of abdominal pain is no more. The family are happy for saving their child and they return gratitude for the medical support.

The patient is being managed for severe malaria; a serious parasitic infection with potential systemic complications. Close monitoring, prompt antimalarial therapy, adequate hydration, and supportive care are essential. Clinical response is being monitored to ensure recovery and prevent further complications. The patient has acute glomerulonephritis, from an immune response following an infection. The condition requires careful monitoring of kidney function, urine output, blood pressure, and fluid balance. The overall prognosis is highly favorable with rapid recovery of kidney function if antimalarial therapy and supportive care are initiated early, though delayed treatment can lead to permanent chronic kidney disease or fatal multi-organ failure. Appropriate treatment and follow-up are necessary to support recovery and minimize the risk of long-term renal impairment.
