Sophia is a cheerful and playful child who enjoys playing with toy balls, skipping rope, eating chapati and meat, and dreams of becoming a singer. She was brought to the hospital after developing abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, diarrhea, high fever, and poor feeding. According to her mother, the illness began five days earlier. She was initially taken to the nearest dispensary, where she received oral rehydration solution, but her condition continued to worsen, with persistent diarrhea, recurrent fever, increasing weakness, and poor appetite. Sophia's parents survive on irregular casual jobs such as washing clothes and gardening, making it difficult to meet even their basic needs. Both were raised on the streets of Nyahururu Town after growing up without parental care and now support each other while struggling to provide for their family. As Sophia's condition became critical, with severe diarrhea and high fever, they sought help from a former guardian who introduced them to Helpster Charity. Sophia was then taken to Goodhope Hospital, where she received urgently needed medical care through the charity's support, giving her a chance to recover despite the family's financial hardship.

Sophia was diagnosed with severe dehydration secondary to acute gastroenteritis, a medical emergency resulting from excessive fluid and electrolyte loss through persistent vomiting and diarrhea. Without prompt treatment, this condition could have progressed to shock, kidney injury, seizures, or death. She required immediate hospital admission for intravenous fluid replacement, correction of electrolyte imbalances, close monitoring, and treatment of the underlying infection.
