Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.
That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Mary is a 5-year-old girl who is humble, quiet, and well-mannered. She lives with both her parents, her siblings, and a cousin in a one-bedroom mud-walled house without electricity. Her mother is a homemaker, while her father is the sole provider for the family, earning a living through farming and occasional casual jobs. Despite their hard work, the family faces significant financial challenges. According to her mother, Mary had been unwell for two days, experiencing a persistent cough, recurrent fever, chest pain, difficulty breathing, poor appetite, and general body weakness. Her condition gradually worsened, leaving her weak, less active, and unable to participate in her usual daily activities. Due to financial constraints and the fact that all her siblings were also sick with similar symptoms, her mother was unable to purchase medication for any of the children. Instead, she used the little money available to transport them to the hospital so they could receive proper medical care. Upon arrival at the facility, Mary appeared very weak, lethargic, and visibly ill. Following medical assessment, she and her siblings were admitted to the ward for close monitoring and treatment. The family learned about Helpster Charity after the mother explained their inability to pay the hospital bill, and a member of staff informed them about the support available through the organization.

Medical history

MARY WAS MANAGED WITH ANTIBIOTICS, ANTIPYRETICS, CORTICOSTEROIDS AND OTHER DRUGS AS PER THE MEDICAL REPORT. SHE RESPONDED SO WELL TO THE CARE AND MANAGEMENT THAT WAS GIVEN TO HER AND STABILIZED. SHE WAS THEN DISCHARGED HOME ON ORAL MEDICATIONS TO CONTINUE WITH AT HOME.

Prognosis

**Doctor's Opinion and Prognosis** Mary was diagnosed with severe malaria, a potentially life-threatening condition caused by malaria parasites affecting multiple body systems. At the time of admission, she presented with fever, weakness, poor appetite, and signs of significant illness that required urgent medical attention. Severe malaria can rapidly progress to complications such as severe anaemia, convulsions, impaired consciousness, dehydration, and organ dysfunction if left untreated. Fortunately, Mary was brought to the hospital and started on appropriate treatment in time. Her condition requires close monitoring, adequate hydration, nutritional support, and completion of the prescribed medication. With prompt and effective treatment, her prognosis is favorable, and a full recovery is expected.
