Why is treatment done earlier than admission?
Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.
That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background
Ali Musa is a 6-year-old boy and the second child of Malam Ali, a subsistence farmer, and his wife, a petty trader. The family lives in a single mud-room house and survives on an average income of just ₦6,500. He was admitted to Ayaji Medical and Diagnostic Centre after suffering from a high-grade fever and severe headache for about one week. The fever was accompanied by chills and rigors, and despite receiving treatment from local patent medicine stores, his condition did not improve. On examination, Ali was found to be febrile and pale. Laboratory investigations showed a PCV of 29% and a malaria parasite result of MP +++, confirming a diagnosis of severe malaria. Due to the seriousness of his condition, urgent medical intervention was required.
Medical history
Treatment and Recovery Ali Musa was admitted and managed for severe malaria after presenting with a high-grade fever, severe headache, weakness, and laboratory-confirmed malaria infection (MP +++). He was promptly placed on treatment, which included injectable artesunate, paracetamol, intravenous fluids, haematinics, and other supportive medications. He was closely monitored by the medical team throughout his admission. Following several days of treatment, Ali's fever subsided, his strength gradually returned, and his overall condition improved significantly. Repeat clinical assessments showed steady recovery, and he was able to eat, play, and carry out normal activities again. With the support of Helpster Charity, Ali received the life-saving treatment he urgently needed. He was discharged home in stable condition with medications and follow-up advice. His recovery brought great relief and happiness to his family, who would otherwise have been unable to afford his treatment.
Prognosis
Doctors opinion Ali Musa presented with symptoms and laboratory findings consistent with severe malaria, including persistent high-grade fever, headache, pallor, and a malaria parasite count of MP +++. His condition required urgent medical attention to prevent serious complications such as severe anaemia, convulsions, organ dysfunction, or death. Following thorough clinical assessment and laboratory evaluation, appropriate treatment was commenced with the support of Helpster Charity. The patient responded positively to treatment and showed steady clinical improvement throughout admission. Prognosis The prognosis for Ali Musa is good. He responded well to antimalarial treatment and supportive care, with resolution of fever and significant improvement in his general condition. With continued adherence to medical advice, proper nutrition, adequate hydration, and malaria prevention measures, he is expected to make a full recovery and return to normal daily activities without long-term complications.
