Mohammad Arju is a hardworking and ambitious 15-year-old boy from Geneva Bihari Camp who studies in Class 8 and dreams of becoming a successful businessman. His father, Md. Barek Mia (50), works as a day labourer and earns around 10,000 BDT per month, which must support Arju, his mother Shabana Akter (45), and his two unmarried elder sisters, making it difficult for the family to meet even their basic needs. Arju had been suffering from a weak urinary stream for a long time, and his condition gradually worsened until he became unable to pass urine, causing severe abdominal pain and a dangerously swollen bladder. Although the family desperately wanted treatment, they could not afford the medical expenses and learned about Helpster Charity through Helpster volunteers, who guided them in seeking assistance. Without urgent treatment, the urine blockage could have caused serious kidney damage, severe infection, permanent urinary problems, and other life-threatening complications, putting Arju's health and future at great risk.

Mohammad Arju was admitted to Al Manar Hospital on 13th June 2026 with severe urinary retention caused by meatal stenosis, which required immediate emergency treatment. After detailed evaluation and investigations, the surgical team successfully performed an emergency suprapubic catheterization (SPC), providing instant relief by draining the retained urine and stabilizing his condition. He received appropriate postoperative care, medications, and close monitoring throughout his hospital stay, and after making a satisfactory recovery, he was discharged on 16th June 2026 with follow-up advice for definitive management. Mohammad Arju and his family expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Helpster Charity, its generous donors and volunteers, and the dedicated doctors and staff of Al Manar Hospital for standing beside them during this difficult time and making the life-saving treatment possible. The doctors performed an urgent suprapubic cystostomy to immediately drain Mohammad Arju's bladder and relieve the urinary obstruction caused by severe meatal stenosis. They expect that with proper catheter care, regular follow-up, and definitive treatment to correct the meatal stenosis, Arju will regain normal urinary function and recover well without long-term complications. Timely treatment will also help protect his bladder and kidneys from permanent damage, allowing him to return to his normal daily activities and continue his education. However, if the condition is left untreated, persistent urinary obstruction could lead to recurrent urinary tract infections, progressive bladder dysfunction, kidney damage, and, in severe cases, life-threatening complications.
