Jakiya Akter is a bright and determined 11-year-old girl who studies in Class Six and dreams of becoming a doctor to help sick people in her community. She lives with her parents and siblings in a six-member family, where her father is the only earning member, working as a day laborer with a monthly income of only BDT 5,000, making it impossible for the family to afford the cost of her lifesaving treatment while meeting their daily needs. She has been diagnosed with severe pneumonia, and without timely treatment, the infection could rapidly worsen, leading to respiratory failure, bloodstream infection (sepsis), multiple organ failure, or even death. The family learned about Helpster Charity through Helpster Volunteer Sadika Rahman, giving them hope when they had no other way to continue her treatment. With timely medical care, Jakiya has the opportunity to recover fully, return to school, and continue pursuing her dream of becoming a doctor.

According to the doctors, with timely treatment using appropriate antibiotics, oxygen therapy, and supportive care, Jakiya has a strong chance of recovery and can go on to live a healthy, normal life. Early and complete treatment will help clear the infection, improve his breathing, and prevent long-term damage to her lungs. However, if the child is left untreated, the pneumonia may rapidly worsen, leading to severe breathing failure, blood infection (sepsis), or even death. At such a young age, delays in treatment greatly increase the risk of permanent complications or loss of life. Immediate medical intervention is therefore critical to saving Jakiya's life and securing her future.
