Anjuman Ara is a polite and intelligent 12-year-old girl who dreams of becoming a doctor and enjoys reciting the Quran, but her persistent throat problems have made daily life increasingly difficult. She lives with her parents and younger brother in a fragile home, while her father is the sole earning member and works as a day laborer, earning only approximately USD 49 per month, which is insufficient to meet the family’s basic needs and medical expenses. Despite previous treatment, Anjuman continues to suffer from throat pain, difficulty swallowing, recurrent fever, enlarged tonsils, and breathing problems during sleep. Her family learned about Helpster Charity through a community outreach program and sought support because they cannot afford the necessary treatment. Without appropriate treatment, the enlarged tonsils and adenoids may cause worsening airway obstruction and sleep apnea, and in severe cases, prolonged breathing difficulties can become life-threatening due to oxygen deprivation.

According to the treating doctors, adenotonsillectomy is recommended to remove the enlarged tonsils and adenoids and relieve the obstruction affecting Anjuman’s breathing and sleep. With timely surgery and appropriate post-operative care, her throat symptoms, swallowing difficulties, recurrent infections, and sleep apnea are expected to improve, allowing better sleep, eating, and daily activities. If left untreated, the enlarged tonsils and adenoids may continue to obstruct her airway, causing persistent sleep apnea, disturbed sleep, difficulty swallowing, and reduced oxygen levels. In severe cases, prolonged airway obstruction and oxygen deprivation may become life-threatening, making timely treatment important.
