Jui Barua is a 15-year-old bright and caring Grade Ten student who dreams of becoming a doctor so she can help poor and vulnerable people in her community. She lives with her parents and younger sister, while her father is the sole breadwinner, earning only approximately USD 45 per month through sharecropping, and often has to borrow money when the harvest is insufficient. The family learned about Helpster Charity through the medical outreach at Kutupalong after Jui developed severe burning upper-abdominal pain, nausea, occasional vomiting, loss of appetite, and persistent indigestion that began affecting her eating and daily activities. She was diagnosed with Peptic Ulcer Disease (PUD) and requires hospital-based treatment, but her family cannot afford the necessary medical expenses and has no nearby government facility capable of providing the required care. Without timely treatment, her condition may worsen and could lead to complications such as gastrointestinal bleeding, severe pain, poor nutrition, or other potentially serious consequences.

According to the treating physician, admission for close monitoring, intravenous fluid therapy and rehydration, antibiotic treatment, pain and fever management, nutritional support, laboratory investigations, supportive care, and regular follow-up is recommended for Jui. With timely treatment, her symptoms are expected to improve, allowing her to regain her appetite, strength, and ability to carry out daily activities. If left untreated, peptic ulcer disease may worsen, causing persistent pain, poor nutritional intake, gastrointestinal bleeding, ulcer perforation, or other serious complications. Prompt treatment and follow-up are therefore important for her recovery and to prevent further deterioration.
