Yusuf Bin Shahid is a 3-year-old boy and the only child of his parents, who is deeply cared for by his family and whose father hopes to see him grow up as an Islamic scholar. His father is a farmer who cultivates crops on others’ land and earns only approximately USD 45 per month, while his mother is a homemaker; when harvests are poor, the family struggles to meet basic needs and often has to borrow money. They live in a modest home with mud walls and a tin roof, and the family could not afford the necessary medical treatment or access suitable nearby government care. Yusuf developed high-grade fever for seven days, followed by acute watery diarrhea, repeated vomiting, and poor oral intake, causing increasing weakness and risk of dehydration. He was admitted to Orion Hospital with Enteric Fever with Acute Watery Diarrhea (AWD) with support from Helpster Charity after the family learned about the organization through the medical outreach at Kutupalong.

Admission for close monitoring, fever control, symptom management, nutritional support, laboratory investigations, and other supportive care is expected to help Yousuf stabilize and gradually recover. With timely treatment and regular follow-up, his hydration, nutrition, strength, and overall condition should improve. If left untreated, persistent fever and acute watery diarrhea may lead to worsening dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, severe weakness, and nutritional deterioration. In a young child, severe dehydration and systemic complications can become life-threatening.
