Saima Akter is a cheerful and innocent 18-month-old girl whose smile brings happiness to her parents and two elder brothers, Abdullah and Abdur Rahman. Her father, Shahidul Islam, is the family's only earning member, driving a rented auto-rickshaw and earning only BDT 7,000 per month, which is barely enough to provide food, housing, and education, making the cost of treatment impossible to afford. After falling from a bed, Saima suffered a fracture of her right upper arm, leaving her in constant pain and unable to move her arm or play like other children her age. The family learned about Helpster Charity through a community medical outreach programme conducted by Anowar Hossain Anu and Meghlal Roy, giving them hope during this difficult time. Without timely treatment, the fracture may heal improperly, leading to permanent deformity, restricted arm movement, chronic pain, and long-term disability

Saima Akter, a 1-year-6-month-old girl, was admitted to Al Aqsa Hospital & Diagnostic Centre on 31 May 2026 with a closed fracture of the proximal right humerus. She underwent closed reduction and U-cast application on the same day. After receiving appropriate treatment, pain management, and medical observation, her condition improved satisfactorily. She was discharged in stable condition with advice to continue cast immobilization and attend regular follow-up visits. Saima and her family express their heartfelt gratitude to Helpster Charity, volunteers Mr. Anowar Hossain Anu and Mr. Meghlal Roy, and the hospital’s dedicated medical team for their financial assistance and compassionate care, which made her timely treatment possible.

According to the treating doctor, immobilization with a U-Cast is the appropriate treatment to keep Saima's fractured arm stable, allowing the bone to heal in the correct position while reducing pain and preventing further injury. With proper immobilization, regular follow-up, and adherence to medical advice, she is expected to make a full recovery and regain normal use of her arm, enabling healthy growth and normal childhood activities. As young children have excellent bone-healing potential, timely treatment offers a very good prognosis. However, if left untreated, the fracture may heal in the wrong position, leading to permanent deformity, restricted shoulder and arm movement, chronic pain, weakness, and long-term impairment that could affect her normal growth and development.
