Abdul Kalam is a 2-year-old Rohingya child who has been raised by his mother and maternal grandparents after his father passed away before his birth. His mother is the sole provider, earning only approximately USD 41 per month through irregular domestic work, which is barely enough to support the family and leaves her unable to afford her son’s medical expenses. The family learned about Helpster Charity through the medical outreach at Kutupalong, where Abdul received medical attention for frequent watery diarrhea, severe abdominal pain, vomiting, weakness, and a painful right-hand injury. He was diagnosed with acute gastroenteritis with moderate to severe dehydration and blunt trauma to the right hand, requiring timely treatment and monitoring. Without appropriate care, severe dehydration could rapidly worsen and become life-threatening, while the hand injury could lead to persistent pain and impaired movement.

According to the treating doctors, immediate hospitalization with supportive care, appropriate diagnostic evaluation, infection and symptom management, fluid therapy, follow-up, and counseling are recommended for Abdul Kalam. With timely treatment, his dehydration and gastrointestinal symptoms are expected to improve, while proper management of the hand injury should help reduce pain and restore movement. If treatment is delayed, continued diarrhea and vomiting may cause worsening dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, weakness, and potentially life-threatening complications.
