Amina K., 23

Amina Khatun is a resilient 23-year-old mother who lives with her husband and their two-year-old daughter, Khadija Khatun, in a family of three. Her husband is the family's only earning member, working as a van driver with an irregular monthly income of approximately BDT 5,000, which is barely enough to cover food and other basic necessities, leaving the family unable to afford the cost of hospitalization, investigations, medicines, and delivery-related treatment. After learning about Helpster Charity through a staff member of CSDK, the family sought assistance in the hope of accessing the urgent medical care Amina requires. Despite exhausting their limited resources, they cannot continue her treatment without financial support. Without timely treatment, moderate oligohydramnios with premature leaking of amniotic fluid can lead to severe infection, umbilical cord compression, fetal distress, preterm birth, stillbirth, and other life-threatening complications that could endanger both the mother and her baby.

Amina Khatun was admitted on 02/06/2026 at 36 weeks of pregnancy with moderate oligohydramnios and premature rupture of membranes. An emergency Lower Uterine Caesarean Section (LUCS) was performed successfully, and a healthy baby was delivered. Both mother and baby remained stable and recovered well with appropriate post-operative care. Amina was discharged in good health on 05/06/2026. She and her family expressed heartfelt gratitude to Helpster Charity, its volunteers, and the medical team for their financial support and compassionate care.

Doctors have recommended an emergency Lower Uterine Caesarean Section (LUCS) along with supportive treatment, intravenous antibiotics, and close maternal and fetal monitoring to safely manage Amina Khatun’s moderate oligohydramnios and premature rupture of membranes (breaking of water). With timely surgery and appropriate medical care, there is a strong chance of a safe delivery and gradual recovery, allowing Amina to return home and care for her newborn. The planned treatment will help reduce the risks associated with low amniotic fluid and prolonged rupture of membranes while minimizing the chances of infection and fetal distress. However, if surgical intervention and proper medical management are delayed, serious complications such as maternal and neonatal infection, fetal distress, umbilical cord compression, reduced oxygen supply to the baby, prolonged or obstructed labor, and even life-threatening consequences for both mother and baby may occur.
