Khaleda B., 40

Khaleda Begum is a resilient 40-year-old mother who lives with her husband, her 15-year-old son living with a disability, and her 8-year-old daughter, doing everything she can to care for her family despite their difficult circumstances. Her husband is the family's only earning member, working as a daily wage labourer with an irregular income that is barely enough to provide food and other basic necessities, leaving the family unable to afford the cost of emergency hospitalization, cesarean delivery, medicines, and newborn care. After learning about Helpster Charity through Shahbuddin, the family sought assistance in the hope of ensuring a safe delivery for Khaleda and her unborn twins. Despite exhausting their limited resources and having no permanent home, they cannot continue her treatment without financial support. Without timely medical intervention, a twin pregnancy with breech presentation of both babies could lead to obstructed labour, fetal distress, stillbirth, severe maternal bleeding, and other life-threatening complications that could endanger the lives of both the mother and her babies.

Khaleda was admitted to Sylhet Gastroliver Hospital on 11 July 2026 with a twin pregnancy, with both babies in breech presentation. She underwent a successful LUCS on 11 July 2026, fully supported by Helpster Charity, and safely delivered two healthy baby boys weighing 2.9 kg and 2.6 kg. Khaleda recovered well, and she and both newborns were discharged safely on 14 July 2026. The family expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Helpster Charity and the hospital medical team, sharing their happiness and appreciation for making the safe delivery and treatment possible when they could not afford the cost themselves.

The recommended treatment is an emergency Lower Segment Cesarean Section (LSCS) to safely deliver both babies and reduce the risks associated with a twin pregnancy complicated by breech presentation of both fetuses. With timely surgery, careful maternal and fetal monitoring, appropriate postoperative care, and neonatal support, the mother is expected to recover well, and both babies have a good chance of a healthy outcome. If left untreated or if delivery is delayed, this condition can lead to obstructed labour, fetal distress, umbilical cord prolapse, birth trauma, severe maternal bleeding, uterine rupture, stillbirth, or even maternal and neonatal death. Early surgical intervention is essential to protect the lives of both the mother and her babies.
