Md. Jisan Miah is a cheerful and creative 11-year-old boy who loves playing football and drawing and dreams of becoming a teacher so he can support his family and educate children in his community. He lives with his five-member family in a rented home at Geneva Camp, where his father earns only BDT 8,500 per month as a rickshaw puller, leaving the family unable to afford Jisan’s specialized treatment. After learning about Helpster Charity through its medical outreach, the family sought support when his bilateral branchial sinus became severely infected, causing high fever, pain, and pus discharge. Without timely treatment, the infection could repeatedly worsen, form a deep neck abscess, and potentially spread to the bloodstream, causing sepsis—a life-threatening condition that can lead to shock and organ failure.

According to the doctor, Jisan should first receive antibiotic treatment to completely control the infection, followed by surgical excision of both branchial sinus tracts. Successful treatment is expected to stop the recurrent neck discharge and infections, relieve his discomfort, and allow him to return to school and normal daily activities. If left untreated, the sinus tracts may repeatedly become infected and develop painful neck abscesses. In severe cases, infection may spread into deeper neck tissues or the bloodstream, potentially causing sepsis, shock, and other life-threatening complications.
