Ali Mortaza Zarif is a two-month-old premature baby born at 32 weeks with low birth weight and is the first child of his parents. He lives with his parents in a small tin-made house, while his father is the sole earning member, working as a deliveryman and earning approximately USD 86 per month, which is insufficient to cover the family’s basic needs and Zarif’s costly medical treatment. After spending 12 days in another hospital’s PICU without the expected improvement, the family could no longer manage the hospital expenses and had to bring him home; they later learned about Helpster Charity through a volunteer and sought support for advanced treatment at Olympus Hospital. Zarif continued to suffer from severe breathing difficulties, fever, and cough, requiring specialized hospital care and close monitoring. Without timely treatment, his severe respiratory condition could worsen rapidly, leading to critical oxygen deprivation, organ complications, and potentially life-threatening consequences.

Ali Mortaza Zarif, a two-month-old premature baby, was admitted to Olympus Hospital on 15 July 2026 in critical condition with severe respiratory distress, fever, and a serious chest infection. As his condition had not improved despite previous treatment at another hospital, he required intensive medical management, including oxygen therapy, intravenous antibiotics, supportive care, and continuous monitoring by the pediatric team. His respiratory condition continued to deteriorate, and mechanical ventilation was initiated on 19 July 2026 to support his breathing and provide the best possible chance of survival. Despite the dedicated efforts of the doctors and nurses and all available treatment, Ali Mortaza Zarif sadly died on 20 July 2026 due to the severity of his illness. His family expressed sincere gratitude to Helpster Charity, its donors and volunteers, and the medical team at Olympus Hospital for their financial assistance, compassionate care, and continued efforts during Ali’s final days.

According to the treating doctors, Ali Mortaza Zarif requires NICU support, oxygen and respiratory support, broad-spectrum antibiotics, nebulization, and close monitoring to control severe pneumonia, septicemia, and respiratory distress. With timely treatment, maintaining adequate oxygen levels and controlling the infection may stabilize his condition and allow him to recover and gradually transition to ward care. However, if treatment is delayed or unavailable, severe pneumonia and septicemia may rapidly worsen, causing persistent oxygen deficiency, respiratory failure, organ complications, and potentially life-threatening consequences.
