Osman Abdullah is a seven-month-old infant who lives with his parents and extended family in a rented home in Rayerbazar, Dhaka. His father, Md. Ripon, is the sole earner and works as a rickshaw puller, earning only approximately USD 53 per month, while his mother, Mahmuda Begum, is a housewife, making it difficult for the family to afford hospitalization and treatment. The family learned about Helpster Charity through Dr. Md. Ehteshamul Haque when Osman developed high-grade fever, persistent cough, severe respiratory distress, and oxygen saturation of only 88%. He was diagnosed with acute bronchiolitis and iron deficiency anemia and required urgent hospital-based treatment. Without timely treatment, his breathing difficulty could rapidly worsen and progress to respiratory failure, which could become life-threatening for such a young child.

According to the doctor, treatment with IV fluids, injectable antibiotics, nebulization, paracetamol, and other supportive care is expected to control Osman’s acute bronchiolitis, reduce fever and respiratory distress, and support recovery. With timely treatment and monitoring, his breathing and overall condition are expected to improve, allowing him to return to normal feeding and daily activities. If left untreated, his severe respiratory distress and low oxygen saturation could worsen rapidly, potentially leading to severe hypoxemia, respiratory failure, and other life-threatening complications.
