Morium Akter is a 7-month-old infant who is loved and cared for by her family. She lives with her parents and grandparents in a six-member family in a small tin-roofed house beside the Meghna River. Her father, Md. Abul Kashem (40), is the sole earning member and works as a fisherman, earning approximately USD 66 per month, but his irregular income is barely enough to meet the family’s basic needs, leaving them unable to afford Morium’s treatment. She has been suffering from painful intermittent swelling in both groin areas for one month, which becomes more prominent during crying or straining, and without timely treatment, the swelling could become trapped and lead to serious complications. The family learned about Helpster Charity through Mrs. Sharmin and sought assistance for Morium’s treatment.

Mst. Morium, a 7-month-old female infant, was admitted to AL-AQSA Hospital & Diagnostic Centre on 18 July 2026 with bilateral groin swelling and pain for one month, worsening with crying, coughing, and movement. After evaluation, she was diagnosed with Bilateral Inguinal Hernia and underwent Open Right-Sided Herniorrhaphy with Hernioplasty on 19 July 2026 to prevent complications. The right-sided hernia was successfully repaired, and the physician advised repair of the opposite side after about three months. She remained hospitalized for four days, receiving postoperative care, medications, and wound management. Her recovery was smooth with no major complications. She was discharged on 23 July 2026 in stable condition. With follow-up and the planned second surgery, she is expected to recover fully. Her family expresses sincere gratitude to Helpster Charity, volunteers Mr. Anowar Hossain Anu and Mr. Meghlal Roy, and the staff of AL-AQSA Hospital & Diagnostic Centre for their support and care.

Left herniorrhaphy with hernioplasty as the initial procedure, followed by right-sided herniorrhaphy with hernioplasty approximately three months later, is expected to repair the hernias and relieve Morium’s pain, swelling, and discomfort. Successful treatment should allow her to feed, move, and develop normally without recurrent groin swelling. If left untreated, the herniated omental tissue may become trapped or compromised, potentially causing severe pain, inflammation, and other complications. Timely staged surgical management is therefore important to prevent complications and support her healthy growth.
