Mohammed A., 12

Mohammad Amin is a kind and responsible 12-year-old Rohingya (FDMN) boy who studies in Grade 2 at a learning center in the refugee camp and dreams of becoming a teacher. As the eldest of five siblings, he lovingly cares for and protects his younger brother and sister, while his father, an irregular daily wage laborer, struggles to provide even the family's basic necessities, making the cost of surgery impossible to afford. For the past year, Amin has suffered from a painful groin swelling that has gradually made walking, studying, and playing increasingly difficult, and doctors have advised urgent surgery to prevent serious complications. Without timely treatment, the hernia could become trapped, cutting off the blood supply to the intestine and causing a life-threatening emergency that would require immediate surgery. His family learned about Helpster Charity during a medical outreach program at Kutupalong Refugee Camp, giving this vulnerable Rohingya family hope that Amin can receive the lifesaving treatment he urgently needs despite their extreme financial hardship.

The treating doctor advised that Mohammad Amin requires timely surgical repair of his right-sided inguinal hernia to achieve a full recovery and return to his normal daily activities without pain or discomfort. With successful surgery and proper follow-up care, he is expected to resume his education, play freely, and enjoy a healthy childhood. If left untreated, the hernia may become trapped, cutting off the blood supply to the intestine (strangulation), which can cause severe pain, intestinal damage, infection, and become a life-threatening emergency requiring urgent surgery
