Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.

That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

AL- AQSA HOSPITAL & DIAGNOSTIC CENTREJodrn Road, Barishal, P.O Box. No-8200Hospital contacts
Background

The patient is a 3-year-old boy who sustained scald burns to both wrists after accidentally coming into contact with hot cooked dal, resulting in persistent wounds with delayed healing. He lives with his parents, two school-going brothers, and elderly grandmother in a dilapidated tin-roofed house; his father, Mahbub Alam, is the sole earner, working as a day labourer and earning approximately USD 58 per month, which is insufficient to cover the family’s basic needs and Ibrahim’s medical expenses. The family learned about Helpster Charity through a community outreach medical program and sought assistance through Al-Aqsa Hospital for the wound excision and split-thickness skin grafting recommended by doctors. Without timely treatment, the wounds may remain unhealed and develop infection, excessive scarring, or wrist contractures that could restrict movement and affect the child’s future hand function.

Prognosis

According to the treating doctor, wound excision and split-thickness skin grafting (STSG) are recommended to achieve definitive wound coverage and promote healing of the post-burn wounds on both wrists. With timely treatment, the procedure is expected to support wound closure, reduce the risk of infection, and improve wrist function. If treatment is delayed, persistent non-healing wounds may lead to wound infection, tissue breakdown, excessive scarring, hypertrophic scar formation, and wrist contractures. These complications may cause restricted wrist movement, functional impairment, and the need for more complex reconstructive surgery.
