Arisha Alvi is a 6-month-old girl living with her parents in Geneva Camp, where her father, Mohammad Saju, is the sole earning member and works as a lace artisan, earning approximately USD 82 per month. With this limited income, the family struggles to meet their basic needs and cannot afford unexpected hospital and treatment expenses. Arisha, a young and vulnerable infant, developed high-grade fever, vomiting, loss of appetite, and frequent loose stools, followed by severe weakness, lethargy, and reduced urine output, and was diagnosed with acute gastroenteritis with severe dehydration and pneumonia. Without timely treatment, severe dehydration could rapidly progress to hypovolemic shock, organ failure, and potentially death, while pneumonia could further worsen her condition. The family learned about Helpster Charity through a medical outreach camp organized by Helpster Charity in Geneva Camp, giving them an opportunity to access the urgent medical support Arisha needed.

With Helpster’s support, Arisha Alvi was admitted to Al-Manar Hospital on July 23, 2026, for acute gastroenteritis with severe dehydration. Doctors quickly stabilized her by starting primary intervention with IV fluids and injectable antibiotics. After spending four days in the hospital, she was discharged on July 27, 2026, with prescribed oral medicines including Denvar, Levostar, Fenat, and Napa. Arisha has now fully recovered and is safely back home, active and smiling again.

According to the doctor, IV fluids, injectable antibiotics such as ceftriaxone and amikacin, paracetamol, and other supportive treatment are expected to correct the severe dehydration, control the infection and fever, and help the child regain strength. With timely treatment and monitoring, Arisha is expected to recover and return to normal feeding and activity. If left untreated, severe dehydration from acute gastroenteritis can rapidly worsen, causing electrolyte imbalance, circulatory failure, kidney problems, and severe weakness. In a young infant, these complications can become life-threatening if appropriate treatment is delayed.
