Md. Fahim is a 17-year-old boy from a low-income farming family who recently completed his SSC examination and hopes to continue his education and build a better future. His father, Abdul Halim, is the sole earning member and earns approximately BDT 6,000 (about USD 49) per month, which must support Fahim, his mother, two younger sisters, younger brother, and grandmother, making the cost of specialized surgery unaffordable. Fahim sustained a deep lacerated wound on the top of his right foot that damaged the tibialis anterior and extensor digitorum tendons and the superficial peroneal nerve, affecting the movement and function of his foot and toes. Without timely surgical repair and proper wound management, he may develop permanent functional impairment, difficulty walking, and serious infection; if a severe wound infection progresses untreated, it can become life-threatening. Surgical repair of the tibialis anterior and extensor digitorum tendons, repair of the superficial peroneal nerve, wound closure, and appropriate postoperative monitoring are expected to improve the function and movement of Fahim’s right foot and toes and support proper wound healing. With timely treatment, wound care, and follow-up, he may gradually regain better mobility and return to his normal daily activities. If treatment is delayed or not completed, the tendon and nerve injuries may result in persistent weakness, restricted foot and toe movement, difficulty walking, and impaired functional recovery. Ongoing wound problems may also increase the risk of infection and other complications.
