Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.

That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Sumaiya Khatun is a cheerful and ambitious 11-year-old girl who loves school, playing with friends, and dreams of building a bright future. Her father, Md. Delwar Hossain, is the sole earning member of their five-person family, earning only BDT 10,000–12,000 per month as a laborer, while the family is already struggling with her mother’s cancer treatment, which had to be discontinued because of financial hardship. After Sumaiya fractured her right elbow, the family learned about Helpster Charity through volunteer Md. Abu Hanif and sought assistance because they could not afford the required surgery, medicines, hospitalization, and follow-up care. Without timely ORIF with K-wire fixation, the fracture may heal in the wrong position, causing chronic pain, severe elbow stiffness, restricted forearm movement, and permanent loss of arm function. Timely surgery and rehabilitation can help Sumaiya regain normal use of her arm, return to school and play, and avoid a lifelong disability

Prognosis

According to the doctor, Open Reduction and Internal Fixation (ORIF) with K-wire fixation is recommended to properly realign Sumaiya’s displaced right radial neck fracture and restore normal elbow function. With timely surgery, appropriate postoperative care, and physiotherapy, she is expected to regain good movement and gradually return to school, play, and normal daily activities. If left untreated, the fracture may heal in an abnormal position, resulting in malunion, persistent pain, elbow stiffness, and restricted forearm rotation. These complications may cause long-term weakness and potentially permanent functional disability of the affected arm.
