Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.

That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

The patient is a 19-year-old young man who completed his Dakhil education at a Madrasah and now helps his father with farming to support their family. He is the third of four siblings; his elder brother also works in agriculture, his second brother studies at Barishal University, and his younger sister is in Class 4, while the family also bears the medical expenses of his elderly mother. Their only source of income is cultivating vegetables on land owned by another person, earning approximately USD 41 per month, which is insufficient to cover daily necessities, education costs, and medical expenses. Following an acute nasal injury, the patient developed severe nosebleeding, significant pain, swelling, and difficulty breathing through his nose, and an ENT surgeon diagnosed traumatic epistaxis with suspected nasal bone injury. Without timely medical management, persistent bleeding or an untreated nasal injury could lead to significant blood loss, ongoing breathing difficulties, and improper healing, further affecting his health and ability to support his family.

Prognosis

According to the treatment plan, hospitalization, close monitoring, ENT specialist management, appropriate investigations, and treatment for nasal bleeding, pain, and swelling are necessary to support the patient’s recovery. With timely medical care, the bleeding can be controlled, nasal pain and swelling may improve, and breathing through the nose may become easier. Without appropriate treatment, persistent bleeding could lead to significant blood loss, while an untreated nasal injury may result in improper healing, ongoing nasal obstruction, and breathing difficulties. Prompt treatment and follow-up are important to reduce complications and restore normal nasal function.
