Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.

That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Md. Sabbir Hossain is a cheerful and determined 11-year-old Class 2 student and an only child who loves playing football and dreams of becoming a doctor. He lives with his parents, Md. Mintu and Farida Begum, in a rented room in Geneva Camp, a temporary shelter for a displaced community, while his father works as a mason and earns only about BDT 11,000 (approximately USD 90) per month. With this limited income, the family struggles to meet basic household expenses and cannot afford the cost of Sabbir’s specialized treatment at Al-Manar Hospital. Sabbir has been suffering from an aneurysmal bone cyst in the right distal humerus for about one year, causing progressive swelling, severe pain, and loss of arm function, and the family learned about Helpster Charity through a Helpster medical outreach camp in Geneva Camp. Without timely treatment, the cyst may continue to weaken and destroy the surrounding bone, increasing the risk of pathological fracture, permanent loss of arm function, and other serious complications.

Prognosis

Surgical treatment following Polidocanol therapy is expected to control the aneurysmal bone cyst, reduce pain and swelling, and restore the movement and functional use of Sabbir’s right elbow. With successful surgery, postoperative care, and regular orthopedic follow-up, he is expected to regain arm function and gradually return to normal daily activities, including school and play. If treatment is not completed, the lesion may continue to enlarge and weaken the distal humerus, increasing the risk of pathological fracture, severe functional impairment, and significant complications. In an advanced untreated condition, extensive bone destruction and fracture may require more complex surgical management and can become potentially life-threatening due to severe complications.
