Zakaria Habib is a 9-month-old baby who lives with his parents and 3-year-old sister, Humayra Akter, in a four-member family. His father, Mohammad Mukter, is the sole earner and works as a garments worker, earning only about USD 65 per month, making it difficult for the family to meet basic needs and medical expenses. Zakaria developed fever and cough for four days with breathing difficulty for two days and was brought to Narayanganj Poly Clinic General Hospital in an emergency condition, where he was diagnosed with severe pneumonia with an SpO₂ of 90%. Due to their fragile living conditions and limited income, the family cannot afford his treatment and learned about Helpster Charity through volunteer Masud Rana. Without timely treatment, his breathing difficulty and low oxygen level may worsen, potentially leading to respiratory failure and other serious complications.

Hospitalization with antibiotic therapy, nebulization, and other supportive treatment is expected to control the lung infection, improve Zakaria’s breathing and oxygen level, and support his recovery. With timely treatment and close monitoring, he is expected to recover and gradually return to normal activities. If left untreated, severe pneumonia may worsen rapidly, causing increasing respiratory distress, dangerously low oxygen levels, respiratory failure, and other serious complications.
