Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.

That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Sumi Akter is a 23-year-old pregnant woman who developed labor pain for two days at 37+ weeks of pregnancy and was found to have a breech presentation requiring an immediate caesarean section to protect the baby. Her husband, Tofael Khan (28), works as a rickshaw driver and earns approximately BDT 8,000 (around USD 65) per month, which is the family’s only income, while Sumi is a housewife and their 6-year-old son and mother-in-law depend on the same limited income. The family cannot afford the emergency surgical and hospital expenses, and the financial burden is beyond their means. They learned about Helpster Charity through miking and sought assistance for Sumi’s delivery. Without timely caesarean delivery, prolonged labor with breech presentation can lead to severe complications, including fetal distress, birth injury, oxygen deprivation, and potentially loss of the baby’s life.

Prognosis

The doctor's prognosis is that an immediate cesarean section is a crucial, life-saving intervention. Breech presentation puts both the mother and baby at significant risk. this condition may cause umbilical cord becoming compressed, which can cut off the baby's oxygen supply and lead to fetal distress, irreversible brain damage, or stillbirth. Without the immediate surgical delivery, the risk of a tragic outcome for the baby is high. The C-section, while a major surgery, offers the best chance to bypass these life-threatening complications and ensure a safe and healthy start to the baby's life.
