Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.

That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

An 18-year-old woman developed serious complications six days after giving birth at home. She lives with her husband and other family members in a five-member household; her husband is the sole earner, working as a day labourer and earning approximately USD 65 per month, which is insufficient to cover basic needs and the cost of her medical care. She developed postpartum eclampsia with altered consciousness, severe respiratory distress, right-sided pneumonia, fever with a urinary tract infection, right-sided hydronephrosis, and mild left-sided pleural effusion, requiring urgent treatment and close monitoring. The family learned about Helpster Charity through a volunteer and sought assistance because they could not afford the necessary treatment. Without timely medical care, her condition could deteriorate further, resulting in severe complications and potentially life-threatening consequences.

Prognosis

Urgent multidisciplinary management with intravenous antibiotics, supportive fluids and medications, nebulization, calcium gluconate, close neurological and respiratory monitoring, and other supportive care is expected to stabilize Sumaiya’s condition and improve her breathing and consciousness. With timely treatment and close monitoring, the associated pneumonia, UTI, and other postpartum complications can be managed and recovery supported. The treatment plan identifies her as high risk for rapid deterioration. If left untreated, postpartum eclampsia with altered consciousness and severe respiratory complications may progress to seizures, respiratory failure, severe infection, organ dysfunction, and other life-threatening complications.
