Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.

That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

The patient is a 34-year-old hardworking woman who enjoys sewing Nakshi and dreams of building a permanent home for her family while raising her daughter in a secure environment. She is 39 weeks and 1 day pregnant with her second child and was diagnosed with severe oligohydramnios after experiencing watery vaginal discharge, decreased fetal movement, abdominal discomfort, nausea, and constipation. Her husband, a 37-year-old day labourer, earns approximately USD 49 per month to support six family members, including their 5-year-old daughter, her 11-year-old brother-in-law, and her elderly parents-in-law, while the family lives in fragile housing without a permanent home. Their limited income is barely sufficient for daily necessities, leaving them unable to afford the hospital care and surgery required for a safe delivery; they learned about Helpster Charity through medical staff and sought financial assistance. Without timely medical intervention, severe oligohydramnios can lead to umbilical cord compression, fetal distress, restricted oxygen supply, and potentially stillbirth, while also increasing the risk of complications during delivery.

Prognosis

The recommended treatment is LUCS under SAB, which is considered the safest option to deliver the baby promptly and prevent further complications. With timely surgery, the baby is expected to have a good chance of recovery and a healthy life. However, if delivery is delayed or the condition is left untreated, the baby may suffer from oxygen deprivation, potentially leading to permanent brain damage or even death. The mother may also be at risk of life-threatening infections and other complications.
