Md. Raiyan is a cheerful and active 3-month-old baby boy who was previously healthy before suddenly developing loose, watery stools and vomiting. He lives with his parents, sister, and grandparents in a six-member family, while his father, Saidur Rahman (32), is the sole earner, working as a day laborer and earning only about USD 65 per month. With this limited income, the family struggles to meet basic household needs and cannot afford the cost of Raiyan’s hospital treatment. He was brought to the hospital and diagnosed with acute watery diarrhea with severe dehydration, and the family learned about the Helpster Support Program through the hospital team. Without timely rehydration and medical care, severe dehydration in such a young infant may rapidly lead to electrolyte imbalance, shock, kidney dysfunction, and other potentially life-threatening complications.

Doctors have advised treatment with proper hydration, parenteral antibiotics along with supportive therapy to effectively control Md. Raiyan’s Diarrhea. With timely and complete treatment, his Diarrhea will gradually subside, his strength will return, and he will be able to resume his studies and daily activities without long-term effects. Proper medical care will also prevent the infection from spreading and protect his vital organs. However, if left untreated, Diarrhea can lead to severe complications. Early intervention is therefore essential to ensure her full recovery and safeguard her future health.
