Nirmoy Roy is a 3-day-old newborn who developed fever, reduced feeding, and rhinitis and was brought to the hospital for evaluation after his condition worsened, with concern for sepsis and anemia. His father, Subash Barmon, is the sole income earner and works as a day labourer, earning approximately BDT 6,000 (around USD 49) per month, while the family includes his parents and elderly grandparents. With this limited income, the family struggles to meet basic household needs and cannot afford Nirmoy’s medical investigations, treatment, and supportive care. The family learned about Helpster Charity through Helpster Volunteer Sadika Rahman and sought assistance for his treatment. Without timely treatment, neonatal sepsis and anemia may progress rapidly, causing severe infection, breathing difficulties, organ dysfunction, and potentially life-threatening complications.

According to the treating doctors, hospitalization, proper hydration, and appropriate antibiotic therapy are recommended to control the infection and support Nirmoy’s recovery. With timely treatment, the infection is expected to improve, while adequate hydration and supportive care can help stabilize his condition and improve feeding and overall health. If left untreated, neonatal sepsis may rapidly worsen and lead to severe infection, circulatory or respiratory failure, organ dysfunction, and potentially death. Prompt treatment and close monitoring are therefore essential for his survival and recovery.
