Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.

That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Mahira Jannat is an 8-month-old girl who was admitted to Seba Hospital with high-grade fever, cough, respiratory distress, and rash and was diagnosed with measles with severe pneumonia. Her father, Salauddin (32), works as a farmer and earns approximately BDT 10,000 (around USD 82) per month, while her mother, Afiya Begum (30), is a homemaker and four children depend on the family’s limited income. Living in a modest tin-roofed house with a mud floor, the family struggles to meet daily needs and cannot afford Mahira’s hospitalization, medicines, and other treatment expenses. The family learned about Helpster Charity through a relative and sought assistance for her treatment. Without timely treatment, severe pneumonia associated with measles may worsen rapidly, causing respiratory failure, dangerously low oxygen levels, severe infection, and other potentially life-threatening complications.

Prognosis

According to the treating doctor, hospitalization, isolation, close monitoring, and conservative and supportive therapy are recommended to manage Mahira Jannat’s measles with severe pneumonia. With timely treatment and close monitoring, her respiratory distress, infection, and low oxygen saturation are expected to improve, supporting a safe recovery and return to normal activities. If left untreated, severe pneumonia may progress to worsening respiratory distress, dangerously low oxygen levels, respiratory failure, and other serious complications. Measles may also lead to further complications, making timely treatment essential for Mahira’s recovery and survival.
