Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.

That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Prodip Biswas is a 9-month-old boy who developed high-grade fever, cough, severe respiratory distress, and abdominal bloating and was admitted to Seba Hospital with severe pneumonia and abdominal distension. His mother, Fulmothi Biswas (23), is a homemaker with a speech disability, while his father has been living separately for the past eight months and provides no financial support; Prodip and his mother currently depend on his maternal uncle, Rotneshor Biswas (42), a day labourer earning approximately BDT 5,000 (around USD 41) per month. The family’s limited income is barely sufficient for basic needs, making it difficult to afford Prodip’s hospitalization, medicines, investigations, and supportive treatment. The family learned about Helpster Charity through a hospital staff member and sought assistance for his treatment. Without timely treatment, severe pneumonia with low oxygen levels and abdominal distension may progress to respiratory failure, severe infection, and other potentially life-threatening complications.

Prognosis

According to the treating doctors, hospitalization, close monitoring, and conservative and supportive therapy are recommended to manage Prodip Biswas’s severe pneumonia with abdominal distension. With timely treatment and close monitoring, his respiratory distress and lung infection are expected to improve, helping him recover safely. If left untreated, severe pneumonia may progress to worsening respiratory distress, dangerously low oxygen levels, respiratory failure, and other serious complications. The abdominal distension also requires appropriate evaluation and monitoring, making timely hospital-based treatment essential for Prodip’s recovery and survival.
