Mohammad Abrar is a 6-year-old boy who developed cough and cold for five days followed by breathing difficulty and was diagnosed with an acute exacerbation of bronchial asthma, with significantly low oxygen saturation requiring emergency treatment. His father, Sohan Prodhan (37), runs a small grocery shop and earns approximately BDT 7,500 (around USD 61) per month, while his mother, Mousumi Begum (25), is a homemaker and his sister Nur Prodhan (7) is a Class 2 student. The family lives in a rented house and their limited income makes it difficult to afford Abrar’s emergency treatment and ongoing medical expenses, especially with his history of recurrent respiratory infections. The family learned about Helpster Charity through volunteer Masud Rana and sought assistance for his treatment. Without timely treatment, severe asthma exacerbation with low oxygen levels can rapidly worsen, leading to respiratory failure and other potentially life-threatening complications.

Mohammad Abrar was admitted to Narayanganj Poly Clinic General Hospital on 10 September 2026 with cough, cold, breathing difficulties, and low oxygen saturation due to an acute exacerbation of bronchial asthma. He received conservative treatment and supportive care, including management of his respiratory distress and close monitoring of his oxygen saturation and vital signs. His condition gradually improved with treatment, and he was discharged on 13 September 2026 in a stable condition.

According to the treating doctor, hospitalization with nebulization, oxygen therapy, close monitoring, and supportive treatment is recommended to control Mohammad Abrar’s acute asthma exacerbation and improve his breathing and oxygen level. With timely treatment, his respiratory distress is expected to improve, allowing him to stabilize and return to normal activities. If left untreated, the severe airway obstruction and low oxygen level may worsen rapidly, leading to respiratory failure, severe oxygen deprivation, and potentially cardiac arrest.
