Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.

That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Baby Judith is the first and only child of a young mother in her twenties. They live with Judith’s great-grandmother in a two-room mud-walled house. Her mother is a total orphan with no siblings and left school in Class 7. She depends on irregular menial work to support herself, her newborn, and her elderly grandmother. Her limited income makes it difficult to provide food, healthcare, and other basic household needs. One Sunday at dawn, Judith’s mother developed severe abdominal pain. Her membranes ruptured later that morning, but she had no health insurance or money for transport to hospital. A neighbour came to her assistance and took her by motorcycle to Siaya County Referral Hospital. She was admitted and delivered Baby Judith prematurely at approximately eight months of pregnancy. Because of the premature birth, Baby Judith required admission for specialized newborn care, close monitoring, and support. During the hospital stay, labour ward nurses informed her mother about Helpster Charity and referred the financially vulnerable family for assistance with the baby’s medical care.

Prognosis

Baby Judith’s prognosis was initially guarded due to prematurity, low birth weight, and respiratory distress syndrome. She required specialized newborn care, respiratory support, nutritional support, and close monitoring for complications. With appropriate treatment and monitoring, she has potential for stabilization, weight gain, and recovery.
