Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.

That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Redwan Hossain Rahat is a 9-month-old boy who was admitted to Seba Hospital after developing high-grade fever, cold and cough, followed by respiratory distress and excessive crying, and was diagnosed with severe pneumonia with measles. His father, Ruble Ahmed, 25, is the sole earner and works as a day labourer, earning approximately USD 41 per month, while his mother, Shammi Begum, is a homemaker; their limited income is barely enough for daily necessities and leaves them unable to afford Redwan’s medical expenses. The family lives in a modest tin-roofed house with a mud floor and learned about Helpster Charity through volunteer Redwan Huseen Shiplu, through whom they sought support for his treatment. Redwan’s condition was concerning, with a temperature of 103°F, oxygen saturation of 94%, rapid breathing, and lung crepitations, requiring appropriate medical care. Without timely treatment, severe pneumonia with measles could worsen rapidly, causing severe respiratory distress, dangerously low oxygen levels, and potentially life-threatening complications.

Prognosis

According to the treating doctors, hospitalization and proper isolation with appropriate medicines, supportive therapy, and close monitoring is recommended to manage patient's severe pneumonia with measles. With timely treatment and careful observation, his breathing difficulty and infection are expected to improve, helping him recover safely and gradually return to normal activities. If left untreated, severe pneumonia may worsen, causing dangerously low oxygen levels, breathing failure, and other serious complications. Measles may also lead to further complications, making timely treatment important for patient's recovery and survival.
