Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.

Background

Yusuf is a 5year old active and curious nursery school student. Yusuf likes playing games and watching Television. His father is missing, and he is staying with his grandmother, a part-time tailor in a 3-room house. She earns 10,000 naira monthly only when she gets customers. Yusuf is suffering from cystitis secondary to Schistosomiasis. He has been having a bloody urine and dysuria for more than two months.

Medical history

Yusuf was admitted for treatment on the 18th of May and was treated for chronic cystitis secondary, to bladder infection by schistosomiasis. Yusuf received oral medications, the symptoms went away, and the child was discharge home healthy.

Outcome

The patient was presented to our facility with haematuria, dysuria, fever, anorexia, fatigue, abdominal pain and problems passing urine. If left untreated, schistosomiasis can lead to increased risk of liver fibrosis or bladder cancer, and the child will experience continuous pain and discomfort.
