Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.

That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Nishita is a 2-day-old newborn girl who needs urgent medical care to overcome serious health complications and begin life safely with her family. She lives in a six-member household with her 26-year-old father, who works at a cosmetics shop and earns approximately USD 73 per month, her 21-year-old mother, her 3.5-year-old sister, and her grandparents. With such a limited income and the responsibility of supporting the entire family, her father struggles to cover daily household expenses and the additional costs of essential newborn treatment. Shortly after birth, Nishita developed breathing difficulties, grunting respiration, and yellowish discoloration of her skin; doctors diagnosed pneumonia and neonatal jaundice and recommended urgent investigations, treatment, and close monitoring. Without prompt treatment, these conditions could lead to respiratory failure, severe neurological damage, or even death, making financial assistance from Helpster Charity crucial to help her receive the care she urgently needs; the family learned about the program through volunteer Masud Rana.

Prognosis

According to the treating doctor, hospitalization, antibiotic therapy, nebulization, phototherapy, and supportive care are essential to manage the newborn's pneumonia and neonatal jaundice. Timely treatment and close monitoring can improve respiratory function, control the infection, reduce bilirubin levels, and support recovery. Without appropriate treatment, pneumonia may progress to severe respiratory distress or respiratory failure, while worsening jaundice may cause bilirubin-related neurological damage. These complications can become life-threatening; therefore, prompt medical intervention is crucial to protect the newborn's health and support a safe recovery.
