Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.

That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Ibrahim is a three-year-old boy and the youngest of four children. He lives with his parents and siblings in a two-room, mud-walled house without electricity. His mother cooks at a nearby day school, while his father works in a small barber shop. Despite their hard work, their modest earnings make it difficult to meet the family’s basic needs and medical expenses. Three days before seeking care, Ibrahim developed a cough, difficulty breathing, poor appetite, diarrhoea and vomiting. His mother gave him paracetamol syrup available at home, but his condition did not improve. Concerned, she took him to hospital for assessment and treatment. At the facility, she explained that the family could not afford the hospital bill if Ibrahim needed admission. A staff member then informed her about Helpster Charity and the possibility of assistance with his medical expenses.

Prognosis

ibrahim was diagnosed with severe pneumonia and gastroenteritis after complains of having cough, difficulty in breathing, vomiting and passing of loose stool. Without intervention severe pneumonia can lead to hypoxia, sepsis and respiratory failure. Urgent inpatient treatment with appropriate antibiotics, supportive care, oxygen when indicated and close monitoring is necessary, while worsened by gastro- intestinal fluid losses. Prognosis expected to improve to good with prompt antibiotics and fluids therapy, fluid and electrolyte correction and close monitoring. A good clinical response is expected.
