Why is treatment done earlier than admission?
Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.
That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background
Omowunmi is a 10-month-old girl who lives with her parents and three siblings in a floating house in Makoko. Her father is a fisherman, while her mother sells cooked rice. Together, they earn approximately ₦16,000 monthly, saving about ₦500 daily to support the family. About a week ago, Omowunmi developed a cough, catarrh, fever, itchy skin rashes, and frequent stooling. She also began feeding poorly. Her mother tried traditional herbal medicine (agbo), but her condition did not improve. Medical examination raised concerns about malaria, enteric fever, scabies, and sepsis. Omowunmi requires hospital treatment with antimalarials, antibiotics, and supportive care. With prompt treatment and completion of prescribed medications, her prognosis is favourable.
Prognosis
The patient will receive inpatient treatment with intravenous antimalarials, broad-spectrum antibiotics, antipyretics, and fluid resuscitation, followed by a completed outpatient oral regimen. With immediate targeted therapeutic intervention and strict compliance with all prescribed medications, the clinical prognosis remains favorable for full recovery. If left untreated, malaria, enteric fever, scabies, and sepsis may lead to severe dehydration, worsening infection, organ damage, and potentially life-threatening complications, especially in infants.
