Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Sometimes, when a case is urgent and vital, hospitals may proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalization of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts.

That's why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

The patient is a 9-year-old girl studying in Grade 3 who lives with her parents, younger sister, and grandfather. Her father works in agriculture and earns approximately BDT 10,000–11,000 (USD 81–90) per month, making it difficult for the family to cover household expenses and medical costs. She developed a high fever and severe body aches that lasted eight days, along with frequent urination, and was taken to Saheda Gafur Ibrahim General Hospital, where she was diagnosed with typhoid fever and admitted for treatment. Her family cannot afford the necessary medical expenses on their limited income and needs financial assistance from Helpster Charity. Without proper treatment, typhoid fever can cause serious complications, including intestinal bleeding, intestinal perforation, and life-threatening infection.

Prognosis

Doctors have advised treatment with parenteral antibiotics along with supportive therapy to effectively control Sumaiya Akter's typhoid infection. With timely and complete treatment, her fever will gradually subside, her strength will return, and she will be able to resume her studies and daily activities without long-term effects. Proper medical care will also prevent the infection from spreading and protect her vital organs. However, if left untreated, typhoid can lead to severe complications such as intestinal perforation, internal bleeding, bloodstream infection, and even become life-threatening. Early intervention is therefore essential to ensure her full recovery and safeguard her future health.
