Helpster Christmas Miracle

News
As Christmas draws near, the atmosphere is charged with fun and merriment. But that's not the case for many underprivileged children in Africa and Asia- their festive season is characterised by fear and gloom as they're suffering from one illness or another and lack the financial means to access essential healthcare. This is the fate of Ayomide Olori, a young boy from Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, Nigeria, whose Christmas looks bleak without your help. It is in moments like this that a Christmas miracle story can unfold, with your support.

Ayomide is an 18-year-old Nigerian boy with an indigent background, battling a life-threatening ailment known as proliferative myositis. This medical condition has robbed the lad of his happiness, vivacity, and health. Ayomide's life has been endangered by this health challenge and can only have respite when an urgent surgery is done. This medical treatment costs 965 USD, but unfortunately, this amount is far out of reach for his parents, who struggle to make ends meet. They're not financially capable enough to foot the bills of his treatment and save his life.

Through our network of community volunteers, Ayomide’s case was brought to our attention at Helpster Charity. His case, therefore, is one of the urgent cases in fundraising at the moment. Helpster exists for cases like this, and, courtesy of the generosity of our global donor community, we've saved over 900 lives. Helpster is an international nonprofit leveraging technology to ease healthcare access for vulnerable populations in Africa and Asia. We deploy a scalable system that bridges the healthcare gap in underprivileged regions, mitigating healthcare inequalities and paving the way for a more equitable world. We're currently raising funds for Ayomide, and by supporting his medical needs, we can give him and countless others the chance to survive and thrive. This is a miracle Christmas opportunity- one that can change his life forever.

A Christmas Miracle Story for Ayomide and Other Children

Ayomide’s case doesn't exist in a vacuum—it's a reflection of a bigger healthcare issue prevalent in many African and Asian countries where there's limited healthcare access, making Medicare a form of luxury. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), almost 50% of the populations in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia lack access to basic healthcare services. In fact, sub-Saharan Africa has one of the highest child mortality rates globally, according to WHO. These are worrisome statistics, and against this backdrop, we can situate the significance of Helpster’s interventions in these regions ravaged by inadequate healthcare resources.

Malaria, for example, is one of the most common and deadliest ailments in Africa. According to WHO, it kills 80% of its victims under the age of five. Based on Helpster’s case admission history, the average cost of treating malaria is around $60 USD in Nigeria and $130 USD in Kenya, but low-income families in these countries are unable to afford the treatment. Thus, without your financial support, Ayomide and other children with a similar fate have little chance of surviving these preventable conditions.

How You Can Help with Christmas: A Miracle Christmas

This Christmas, Helpster is making a clarion call to its global donor community and other compassionate individuals to support the campaign to 'democratise' healthcare irrespective of income or location. We call on generous individuals to make a difference in the lives of these vulnerable children whose parents/guardians cannot afford the essential medical services they need. Your donation, however small, will have a direct impact on these children, and updates on treatment are available online.

Christmas is marked by selflessness and giving. Let's come together to share the gift of health and hope with ill children from low-resource families in Africa and Asia. Your support will not only restore the hopes and aspirations of Ayomide and others in his shoes but also give them a better chance at life. By offering help with Christmas, you can ensure that miracles happen where they're needed most.

Let's give the Gift of Life This Christmas and create miracles by making a donation here. A Christmas miracle story like Ayomide’s can be real- with your kindness. Share health, bring hope, and reflect the true spirit of Christmas!
