Mark is a two-year-old cheerful boy who lives with his siblings. His mother, Emily, is a single parent facing financial struggles. Mark eagerly awaits the day he can start school. However, he's been experiencing a cough, shortness of breath, and a runny nose for the past few days. The day before being admitted to the hospital, he also developed a fever. Despite his mother administering paracetamol syrup, his condition worsened, prompting an urgent trip to the hospital.

Mark had a cough, shortness of breath running nose, and hotness of the body and the mother had tried giving him some home remedies and over the counter medication but the condition became worse. Mark's mother brought him to the hospital where he received intravenous medication and the child improved. Within 3 days of the medication given at the hospital, there was marked improvement and he was discharged from the hospital to continue with oral medication at home.

Pneumonia should be treated with antibiotics. If left untreated, pneumonia may lead to the permanent lung damage, respiratory failure, septicaemia (infection entering blood stream and causing sepsis), pleural effusion (accumulation of fluid in the space between the lung and chest wall, which can make breathing difficult), and other life-threatening complications.
