Upon examination, Richard appeared unwell, had a fever, and was dehydrated. Laboratory tests confirmed he was suffering from severe malaria, which required hospitalization. After receiving treatment, Richard's condition improved, and he was discharged in better health.
Outcome
Malaria should be treated promptly with the use of antimalarial drugs. If left untreated, it can lead to severe complications and even death. It can result in organ failure, severe anemia, neurological issues, and in some cases, prove fatal, making early diagnosis and treatment crucial for preventing these life-threatening consequences.
