At the hospital, it was discovered that Shantel was also undernourished, which had weakened her immune system. She was diagnosed with malaria and treated with supplemental feeds and malaria medication. After receiving nutritional counseling, Shantel and her mother were discharged. A week later, Shantel was reviewed and it was confirmed that she was doing well.
Treatment & Outcomes
