Background
Falmata is a lively 2-year-old girl who enjoys playing with toys and her friends. A week ago, she started coughing a lot, had a fever, lost her appetite, and was vomiting. She also had some chest pain. Even though she was given medicine at home, it didn't help her feel better. Now, she's been diagnosed with Pertussis, which is a serious condition, and she needs urgent medical care.
Medical history
Falamata was admitted with pertussis complicated by acute malaria on December 29, 2023, and discharged on December 30, 2023. She was treated with antibiotics, analgesics, antimalarials, and multivitamins.
Outcome
Treatment for pertussis, or whooping cough, primarily involves antibiotics to help control the infection and reduce the spread of the disease.
