Why is treatment done earlier than admission?

Background
Moh'd is a happy 3-year-old boy who comes from a poor family. He loves riding his bike and dreams of becoming a pilot when he grows up. About 2 years ago, he started to notice a swelling near his belly button. It started small but got bigger over time. Sometimes, it hurts and makes it hard for him to do things, but the pain goes away after he takes medicine.
Medical history
Mohd Ali Guwo, a 3-year-old boy from a poor family, was admitted for surgery on February 20, 2024, due to a symptomatic umbilical hernia. The surgery was successful, and he was discharged home on February 22, 2024.
Outcome
If left untreated, the hernia may continue to grow in size, causing increased discomfort, pain, and a noticeable bulge at the umbilicus. In severe cases, the protruding tissue can become trapped or strangulated, which is a medical emergency. Strangulation occurs when the blood supply to the herniated tissue is compromised, leading to severe pain, nausea, vomiting, and possible tissue damage or necrosis. Prompt surgical repair is typically recommended for umbilical hernias to prevent these complications and ensure the safety and well-being of the affected individual.
