Saleha K., 10

Saleha is a 10 y.o. girl who lives with her parents and her two brothers. Saleha's father is the sole breadwinner in the family, he is a rickshaw driver. They are a very poor family. One of her brothers studies in college. Saleha studies in 4th standard in the government primary school of her area. She is a very brilliant girl. Saleha plays various local sports with her school friends. Due to her throat problem, Saleha cannot study properly. Saleha's dream is to grow up to be a great doctor.

Saleha had been suffering from cold, cough, fever, sore throat, and throat swelling for the past three years. Although these symptoms could be temporarily alleviated with antibiotics prescribed by the village doctor, they always returned. Saleha was eventually diagnosed with tonsillitis and required a tonsillectomy as soon as possible. The tonsillectomy was successfully performed without any complications. Saleha spent three days in RUDO Hospital to ensure everything was fine with her recovery. Her mother, Shukoron, expressed her gratitude: "I cannot find words to describe how happy I am. Tonsillitis should be treated with antibiotics. If left untreated, the discomfort will remain, and the inflammation may develop and spread onto the other organs. An abscess can form around the tonsils, causing severe pain, difficulty swallowing, and the need for drainage or surgical intervention.
