Fidel lives with a single mom who has a hard time making enough money. He's great at playing ball games, especially football, and he enjoys reading novels. Fidel wants to become a medical clinician when he grows up. But right now, his mom struggles not only to pay his school fees, which are overdue, but also to provide enough food for their family. He was taken to the hospital because he has a fever, joint pains, and chest pain.

Fidel was diagnosed with malaria and pneumonia hence was put on quick treatment. These are ailments common in this region but have claimed several lives if not treated in time. Fidel case required close observation hence he was admitted. That saved him and was able to afford a smile at discharge. He has since gone back to his class.

Pneumonia should be treated with antibiotics. If left untreated, pneumonia may lead to the permanent lung damage, respiratory failure, septicaemia (infection entering blood stream and causing sepsis), pleural effusion (accumulation of fluid in the space between the lung and chest wall, which can make breathing difficult), and other life-threatening complications. Malaria should be treated promptly with the use of antimalarial drugs. If left untreated, it can lead to severe complications and even death. It can result in organ failure, severe anemia, neurological issues, and in some cases, prove fatal, making early diagnosis and treatment crucial for preventing these life-threatening consequences.
